Laguna Churup is located east of the city of Huaraz, at 4,450 m; for its beauty and proximity it is one of the most popular hikes in the area. It is a good option to acclimatize before a trek or climb in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash.
Huaraz – Nueva Florida – Unchus – Llupa – Pitec (3,860 m)
We leave Huaraz by private transport, passing many picturesque villages such as Nueva Florida, Unchus, Llupa and Pitec, the last one at 3,860 m, where the hike begins.
Pitec – Laguna Churup (4,450 m) – Pitec
The hike goes uphill to a rocky point where steel cables are installed to climb safely onto the trail that reaches the lake. After a snack, we will start the descent to Pitec, where the bus awaits to return to Huaraz.
Return: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
