ABOUT THE ASCENT

Huascarán has two well-differentiated summits: the north one at 6,655 m and the south one at 6,768 m. It is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Blanca, but also the highest in Peru and the highest in the tropical belt. Route conditions on Huascarán change especially from year to year; its ascent requires technical equipment and being in good physical and technical condition. From the summit you can see most of the Andes mountain range.
