Departure heading south of Huaraz to discover the Conchucos valley and the ancient temple of Chavín de Huántar. We will pass through the picturesque villages of Recuay and Catac. We will reach Querococha lake, located at the foot of the Pucaraju and Yanamarey snow peaks. We will also see a geological fault shaped like the map of Peru. We will cross the Cahuish tunnel, which connects the Conchucos area with the Callejón de Huaylas, and also see the Christ of the Andes.
Conchucos valley – Temple of Chavín de Huántar
We will descend into the Conchucos valley through Tambillo and Machac, and in Chavín we will visit the ancient temple of Chavín de Huántar; we will tour its galleries, its square and circular plazas, the Tenon Heads and the Lanzón Monolith. Finally, we will visit the modern Chavín Museum.
